Can we make our shabab goals actionable?

Shabab Goals.jpg

Hi ya Shabab,
As you recall, a couple of weeks ago, in our New Year worship night, Achai and Selvia helped us list our group goals - what we considered as important shabab goals to focus on in the new year. Moody, thanks for documenting them as well (see attached).

We want to transform those into actual activities, and make them happen..

Which item is God speaking to you more about? and how do you suggest we get started on it? Lets have an open discussion on this, and get the creative juices flowing, and the hearts committed to making them happen this year.

Let's discuss.. What's your take on it? Which one is God speaking to you more about?

That is the most impratant thing on my list, I beleive we should be invloved in our commuity as much as we can.

practically speaking, what things can we do to get more involved in our community? anyone have any ideas?

There are small and big ways. Here are some ideas:

Already ongoing ministries:
- get involved with Juvy
- help out with Arabic Family Center
- help out in teaching Arabic or English at church

Other opportunities:
- get involved in Big Brothers/Big Sister (you "adopt" one kid for some time and hang out with them)
- help organizations who help with refuge (we can probably connect with them more than lots of other people), like Catholic Charities
- look at sites like volunteermatch.org
- help out in translating for Arabic people in hospitals
- visit elderly in homes and do something for them (some places are always looking for activities for the people that live there)
- Volunteer to teach English to new comers to America at Park Street Church

I'm sure there are way more ways to help, but these are some.

Tony,
Remember, the email you send me two day ago about the Norwood guys, that could be the first activtie for the group and have every one part take.
